Important Info for Tax Season 2023

The official start to the tax season is today–January 23, 2023. More than 168 million individual tax returns are expected to be filed this tax season.

He said, “While much work remains after several difficult years, we expect people to experience improvements this tax season. That’s just the start as we work to add new long-term transformation efforts that will make things even smoother in future years.”

What do I need to have ready for my CPA?

It will pay off to organize your necessary documents ASAP. This might include gathering bank statements, payroll information, 1099s, bookkeeping reports, tax filings, financial statements, K-1s, and other documents depending on your situation.

When will I get my tax refund?

It’s most important to file an accurate and complete tax return. So, you’ll need to wait until you have all of your income statements, including anything related to unemployment compensation, dividends, pension, and retirement plan distributions. Then, the fastest way to file and receive a refund is by filing electronically with direct deposit. Your CPA can help you through these steps.
