SUMMARY:Annual Charity Swim
DESCRIPTION:Tax Manager Jennifer Petyk\, EA\, MST and her fearless team of open-water swimmers are conquering the mighty Monongahela River on June 24\, 2023\, all for a cause close to their hearts. Together\, they are swimming for the Glimmer of Hope Foundation and their partnership with Magee-Women’s Hospital\, ensuring all women under 40 have access to life-saving screening and diagnostic mammograms. Help them reach their $4\,000 goal and make a difference in the lives of countless women. 100% of your contribution goes directly to the organization.  \nBackground Information: \nDuring the early days of the pandemic\, when pools were closed\, a handful of determined swimmers headed to the Pittsburgh rivers so they could continue to pursue their passion of swimming. They felt grateful for the opportunity to be able to find an outlet for their love of the water. Their feeling of gratitude\, turned into wanting to pay it forward. \nIn 2020\, the group raised $4\,000+ for The Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank. In 2021\, they raised over $4\,000 for The Light of Life Mission. This year\, they are turning their focus to those who are faced with Breast Cancer. They have chosen Glimmer of Hope as the charity this year. So\, four veteran\, intrepid\, open-water swimmers will swim 4 miles in the Monongahela River on June 24\, 2023 in an effort to raise at least $4\,000 for the Glimmer of Hope organization. \nGlimmer of Hope\, in collaboration with Magee-Women’s Hospital\, is contributing to the support of screening and diagnostic mammograms for all women under 40. They cover cost of imaging \, copays and coinsurance as well as cost for needed transportation and they will also contribute toward childcare costs.
